Q:
What is CFRE?
A:

CFRE stands for Certified Fund Raising Executive, an internationally recognized certification in the fundraising field and administered by CFRE International. CFRE is the first level of certification and may be renewed every three years.

ACFRE, or Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive, is the next level of certification and is administered by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Initial CFRE certification requires an individual to complete 80 educational points and an exam. Recertification requires 45 or 60 points of professional practice. For more information, please see CFRE International's Steps to Certification.

The Foundation Center's fee-based classes qualify for educational points that count towards initial or recertification. For other approved educational providers, please see CFRE International's web site.
