Foundation Center staff get this question a lot. No single, perfect answer exists, except, "It depends..." Learn when having those letters after your name would, or would not be, a worthwhile investment of your time, energy, and money.
David Pass, CFRE, is the vice president of development and marketing of MedShare, a nonprofit that recovers and redistributes surplus medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. He has directed and managed fundraising campaigns that combined have raised more than $28 million. As vice president, Dave provides executive leadership for all fundraising and marketing activities. Prior to that, Dave served Bobby Dodd Institute as Director of Stakeholder Relations and managed capital and endowment campaigns for O’Neill & Associates Fundraising Consultants for some of Atlanta’s finest nonprofit agencies, including Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Bobby Dodd Institute, the Latin American Association, and Kids In Need of Dreams, among others. Joe Folan is the director of Opportunity Knocks, a national online job site, HR resource and career development destination for nonprofits, He has developed extensive marketing and e-commerce experience and has been responsible for the direction, strategy and marketing of several nationwide B2B business segments, including direct mail, e-fulfillment programs and promotional products. He has also served as marketing director for another niche job board before joining Opportunity Knocks.
