Following the class, guest speaker Marc Nathanson from Youth Opportunities Unlimited will offer tips and anecdotes for working with your board.

It's the job of the board of trustees to ensure that an organization has the resources it needs to advance its mission. Successful fundraising occurs when a nonprofit's volunteer leadership is enthusiastically engaged in the process, and when the board of directors and the professional staff work together in a strategic and coordinated way.

This class helps you think through the process of getting your board involved with fundraising. What we will cover:

• The role of your board
• Why board members may be reluctant to fundraise and how to overcome these concerns
• Ways the board can participate in fundraising activities
• Tips for strengthening your fundraising board

About the presenter:

Marc joined the Youth Opportunities Unlimited team in 2011 as their Senior Development Executive. In his role his goal is to increase revenue from foundations, corporations and individuals, and increase awareness of Y.O.U.’s mission and programming services through increased marketing efforts.Prior to his work at Y.O.U., Marc served as Director of Development of New Life Community, Executive Director of Old Stone Education Center, and Executive Director of West Side Catholic Center.
