The Nonprofit Issues Forum is Atlanta's leading forum for discussion of cutting-edge ideas for the nonprofit sector.
Governance has become a central issue in the 21st century. This talk focuses on governance in partnerships and collaborations. How do they go about making the important decisions that determine what the partnership actually does? Which governance structures and processes seem more effective than others? And, what implications do answers to these questions hold for practice? A great deal of public problem-solving and policy implementation occurs through partnerships, yet we know very little about how they are governed. Through a comparative analysis of three cross-sector partnerships, Dr. Stone will present a framework and initial design principles from which to understand effective, collaborative, governance systems.
Keynote Speaker: Melissa M. Stone, Gross Family Professor of Nonprofit Management, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota
